Joseph M. Otting, Comptroller of the Currency, Discusses Leadership and Becoming Comptroller

I spent 35 years in the banking industry really
in all facets of the industry from technology to HR to lines of the businesses to being
an executive and a leader. And with that when the opportunity came to
be able to do this I thought I could bring a unique aspect into this role where someone
hadn’t had a position for over 40 years for a banker to oversee the Comptroller of the
Currency. So I thought I was uniquely qualified to bring
those skills into this and be able to I think not only the bank industry but the regulatory
industry to come together and solve some of the outstanding issues as we look to change
some of the policies and procedures as we go forward.
